This role sits within the ISGM Strategist team supporting the ISGM Central Risk organization at Morgan Stanley, designing and developing technology solutions that enhance risk management, regulatory oversight, workflow automation, and management reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain web-based applications supporting regulatory, supervisory, surveillance, and operational risk processes.
Build scalable front-end and back-end solutions using modern software development frameworks and engineering best practices.
Enhance existing risk management platforms, workflows, reporting tools, and management information systems.
Partner with Risk, Compliance, Business Control, and Technology stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technology solutions.
Develop automated workflows, dashboards, reporting solutions, and system integrations that improve operational efficiency and control effectiveness.
Design and optimize data models, APIs, and database structures to support business and analytical requirements.
Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
Ensure applications meet firm standards for security, scalability, performance, and maintainability.
Contribute to technical architecture decisions, coding standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support strategic automation and digitization initiatives that reduce manual effort and enhance risk management outcomes.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, preferably from a top-tier university, with strong programming skills.
2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Strong proficiency in Python, including hands-on experience with data analysis and numerical computing libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
Experience in JavaScript frameworks such as React.
Experience with Git and GitHub for source code management and version control.
Strong experience with financial modelling and analytical tools, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Hands-on experience working with MongoDB and SQL databases.
Experience with data visualization platforms and tools.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
