As a Senior Engineer at Target, you serve as a specialist in the engineering team supporting products, helping develop and gain insight in application architecture and applying software engineering patterns to build robust and scalable systems.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making accounting for viability, maintainability, and cost of ownership.
Lead the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services.
Lead and conduct code review, design review, testing, and debugging activities at the application level.
Lead functional design and architecture discussions with understanding of process flows and system diagrams.
Participate in routine and non-routine construction, automation, and implementation activities.
Provide technical oversight and coach others to resolve complex technical issues.
Requirements
5+ years in software design and development.
At least 4 years building scalable backend apps in Java or Kotlin.
Proven track record designing and implementing microservices and working with event-driven systems.
Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
Hands-on experience with Kafka for data streaming and messaging.
Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to NoSQL databases, analytical stores, and Apache Beam.
Experience with advanced CI/CD pipelines.
