At Agoda, the Back End Engineering department builds scalable, fault-tolerant systems and APIs that host core business logic and mission-critical services. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead engineering teams, stay hands-on with code, and drive technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Be hands on by writing and reviewing code, giving expert level coaching and guidance to engineers.
Build things elegantly and at scale, maintaining strong opinions on how systems are architected, engineered, and maintained.
Do full stack engineering with experience across infrastructure, client side, back end, performance, and data.
Develop people by inspiring them to achieve their potential and integrating high-performing talent into the business.
Requirements
Extremely proficient in at least 1 programming language such as Java, Scala, or C
Strong experience in systems architecture for complex, scalable and fault tolerant distributed systems
Demonstrable experience as a system owner with operational responsibility
Proficient in lower level engineering including garbage collection, context switching, and threading
Familiarity with DevOps culture, agility, leanness, automation, and CI/CD
Good understanding of application security
Must have worked in a successful agile development team
Must have run engineering teams before with 5+ direct reports
Able to operate autonomously, making decisions, setting KPIs, with a strong sense of ownership
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in more than one programming language
