๐งช Automation Testing Isn't About Writing More Tests โ It's About Building Trust in Every Test Run. ๐
One of the biggest challenges in test automation is not getting tests to pass once. It's making sure they continue to provide reliable feedback as the application evolves.
A flaky test that passes today and fails tomorrow without any code changes can waste developers' time and reduce confidence in the entire test suite.
Here are a few practices that make a real difference:
๐น Write stable tests: Use reliable locators, proper waits, and independent test data instead of relying on timing assumptions.
๐น Keep test frameworks maintainable: Reusable utilities and clear test structure make debugging easier.
๐น Test APIs and contracts early: Catch integration issues before they become difficult end-to-end failures.
๐น Shift testing left: Involve QA during requirements and development, not just before release.
๐น Investigate failures instead of blindly retrying: A retry may hide a symptom, but understanding the root cause helps prevent it from returning.
For me, the real goal of automation is faster feedback, fewer surprises, and more confidence in every release.
QA engineers, what's the most common cause of flaky tests in your projects โ timing issues, unstable test data, or environment problems?
