Good Software Engineering Is About Solving Problems, Not Just Writing Code!
Over the past two years, working on internal tools and APIs has taught me that building software is much more than making something work. It's about making it reliable, maintainable, and easy for other developers to work with.
A few lessons I've been learning along the way:
Understand the problem first: A simple, well-thought-out solution is often better than unnecessary complexity.
Design APIs carefully: Clear contracts, proper error handling, and consistent responses make life easier for everyone using them.
Write maintainable code: Today's implementation should be understandable to the person who has to modify it tomorrow.
Strengthen DSA fundamentals: Practicing data structures and algorithms helps develop structured problem-solving skills.
Think about system design: Understanding trade-offs, scalability, and reliability is essential as systems grow.
I'm currently sharpening my DSA and low-level design (LLD) skills while preparing for SDE-2 interviews. I'll also be sharing useful notes, lessons learned, and practical engineering insights along the way.
The goal is continuous improvement — one problem, one design, and one better solution at a time.
Software engineers: What helped you most when preparing for your next career level — DSA, system design, or building real-world projects?
