Data Analyst Mindset: Don't Just Report Numbers, Find the Why!
A sales dashboard shows revenue dropped by 15% this month.
Reporting the decline is easy. Understanding the reason behind it is where real analysis begins.
Here's how I'd investigate:
Check the trend: When did the decline start?
Compare segments: Did a particular product, region, or customer group drive the drop?
Write SQL queries: Use joins, aggregations, and CTEs to identify patterns.
Look for root causes: Check pricing changes, campaign performance, and customer behavior.
Share actionable insights: Recommend what the business can investigate or improve next.
Remember: A dashboard tells you what happened. Good data analysis helps explain why it happened.
I'm continuously improving my SQL, visualization, and analytical thinking skills to turn raw data into meaningful business insights.
