๐ 600+ DSA Problems Later: What I'm Learning About Software Engineering Interviews
As a final-year Computer Science student, preparing for SDE roles has taught me that solving problems is only one part of the journey.
Working through 600+ DSA problems has helped me understand a few important lessons:
๐น Consistency beats cramming. Regular practice helps build stronger problem-solving habits.
๐น Patterns matter more than memorization. Understanding sliding windows, binary search, trees, graphs, and dynamic programming helps me approach unfamiliar problems.
๐น Explaining your approach is a skill. Arriving at the correct solution is important, but communicating the reasoning clearly matters too.
๐น Fundamentals still count. DSA is important, but Java, OOP, DBMS, operating systems, computer networks, and SQL are also part of interview preparation.
๐น Projects connect theory to practice. Building applications helps me understand how concepts translate into working software.
I'm continuing to improve, learn from mistakes, and prepare for new opportunities.
For students preparing for SDE roles: What's one thing you wish you'd known when you started DSA?
