Good UX Design Isn't About Making Things Look Pretty — It's About Making Things Easier!
As a product designer, one thing I keep coming back to is that users don't want to figure out how our product works. They want to accomplish their goals without confusion.
Here are 5 UX principles I believe every product team should focus on:
1. Talk to Real Users
Assumptions can be misleading. User interviews help uncover real pain points and expectations.
2. Reduce Unnecessary Steps
In e-commerce, a complicated checkout can create friction. Make the journey simple and clear.
3. Design for Clarity
Clear labels, helpful feedback, and familiar patterns help users make decisions confidently.
4. Test Before You Polish
A simple prototype tested with users can reveal usability issues before investing time in visual details.
5. Measure What Matters
Look beyond aesthetics. Track task completion, drop-off rates, and user feedback to understand whether the design is working.
My biggest takeaway: Great design often means removing friction rather than adding more features.
At Kartly, thinking about commerce flows reminds me how much small design decisions can influence the overall shopping experience.
Product designers: What's one small UX improvement you've seen that made a surprisingly big difference?
