Great Engineering Teams Are Built on Trust, Not Just Technology!
After years of working in engineering and managing teams, one thing becomes clear: strong teams aren't built by writing more code or attending more meetings. They're built by creating an environment where people can do their best work.
A few things I believe make a real difference:
Clear communication: Make expectations clear and encourage people to ask questions.
Regular 1:1s: Listen to challenges, discuss career goals, and provide meaningful feedback.
Ownership over micromanagement: Give engineers the freedom to make decisions and learn from mistakes.
Healthy code reviews: Focus on improving the code, not criticizing the person who wrote it.
Career growth: Help people understand what their next level looks like and how to get there.
Leadership isn't about having all the answers. It's about helping your team find better answers together.
Engineering managers and developers: What's one thing a great manager has done that helped you grow?
